Citrose is a unique, citrus-derived sweetener ingredient.

Citrose originates from flavonoids* extracted from the peels of immature oranges produced by an evergreen tree called Citrus aurantium.

These “baby” oranges naturally drop to the ground, allowing the full maturation of the orange crop. They dry in the field, and instead of becoming agricultural waste, are upcycled in the process to make citrose. That’s a win-win-win: for growers, the environment, and consumers.

Using citrose in food and beverage products allows for easy understanding when consumers are checking ingredient labels, especially versus certain sweetener ingredients frequently used today.

* Flavonoids are a type of polyphenols and are  consumed as part of the human diet in significant amounts. Polyphenols are natural plant compounds found in fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, tea, dark chocolate, and wine. Citrus fruits are rich in flavonoids.
